Ian "Crimsix" Porter

Ian Porter, better known by his alias Crimsix or C6, is an American racing driver and former professional esports competitor. He is recognized for his highly successful career in Call of Duty and his subsequent transition first to sim racing and then to real-world motorsports. Born May 29, 1993, he is 31 years old as of March 2025.

Early Career: Halo

Porter began competing in video games competitively in 2008. With the release of Halo: Reach, he started playing on the MLG Pro Circuit, achieving multiple top 8 placements. He placed 4th at MLG Columbus. His professional Halo career was short.

Call of Duty Career

Porter switched to Call of Duty: Black Ops 2 when MLG replaced Halo: Reach on their Pro Circuit in 2012. He achieved immediate success in competitive Call of Duty. Over his Call of Duty career, which spanned from 2012 to 2022, he represented multiple organizations.

  • compLexity Gaming (2012–2014): Porter joined compLexity Gaming in December 2012. Initially, the team included ACHES, TeePee, and FEARS, later adding Clayster. This roster became known as one of the most dominant Call of Duty teams. They found immediate success, winning their very next event and dominating the second half of the Black Ops 2 season. Their domination continued into the Call of Duty: Ghosts season, winning MLG Columbus 2013. After dropping Clayster and adding Karma, they won the next event. Porter and his teammates won the Call of Duty Championship 2014, dropping only 4 maps in the entire tournament. They continued to dominate, winning the MLG CoD League Season 1 Playoffs and UGC Niagara 2014. compLexity sold their Call of Duty team to Evil Geniuses on May 6, 2014.
  • Evil Geniuses (2014): Under the Evil Geniuses banner, the team continued to find success in Ghosts, maintaining first place in the league and securing a spot in the Championship bracket at MLG Anaheim. They took the bronze medal at the MLG X Games Invitational, their first loss on Ghosts. They later won MLG Anaheim, getting revenge over OpTic Gaming in the final. They finished 5th-8th at Gfinity 3, the first time Porter finished outside the top 4 in his Call of Duty career. After roster changes and a disappointing 13th-16th place finish at UMG Nashville, they won ESWC 2014. The Evil Geniuses roster disbanded, and Porter's contract was bought out by OpTic Gaming.
  • OpTic Gaming (2014–2019): Porter joined OpTic Gaming for the Advanced Warfare season, teaming with Nadeshot, Scump, and Formal. They won three of the first five events but had a disappointing 7th place finish at the Call of Duty Championship 2015, which led Nadeshot to retire. Karma joined the team, and this roster won three of the final six events of the year. The roster stayed together for Black Ops 3 and Infinite Warfare, winning numerous events. Crimsix earned his second Call of Duty World Championship ring with OpTic Gaming at the Call of Duty Championships 2017. Despite this success, the team struggled during the WWII season, failing to win a championship title. In Black Ops 4, OpTic added Dashy and TJHaLy, and Karma returned to the lineup. They won the 2019 CWL Las Vegas Open but did not win another event that season.
  • Dallas Empire (2020–2021): In the franchised Call of Duty League (CDL) era, Porter joined the Dallas Empire in October 2019. The team included Clayster, Huke, iLLeY, and Shotzzy. Dallas Empire won the Call of Duty League Championship 2020, marking Crimsix's third championship ring. He remained with the Dallas Empire for the Black Ops Cold War season, finishing third at the Championship Weekend.
  • New York Subliners (2021–2022): Crimsix joined the New York Subliners for the 2021-22 CDL season. The roster also included Neptune, Hydra, and Clayster. Subliners won the 2022 Pro-Am Classic with Crimsix, Hydra, Kismet, and PaulEhx. He left the team at the end of the season in August 2022.

Crimsix holds the record for the most tournament wins in Call of Duty history. Sources cite him as having 38 or 39 championship wins. He has won three Call of Duty World Championships (2014, 2017, 2020). Porter also earned an X Games gold medal in 2015. Throughout his career, he earned a total prize money of $1,418,092.80 from 172 tournaments. He is ranked #110 in highest overall esports earnings and #13 in highest earnings for players from the United States.

Racing Career

After retiring from competitive Call of Duty in 2023, Crimsix initially announced he would compete as a professional sim racer with FaZe Clan. He later left the organization in November 2024.

Porter transitioned to real-world racing, partnering with RAFA Racing Team. He entered the Porsche Sprint Challenge North America in 2024, driving a Porsche 718 Cayman for RAFA Racing by JDX. In his debut weekend at Sebring International Raceway, he swept the opening weekend in the Cayman Pro-Am Driver's class. He ended the 2024 season with ten wins and the championship in the Cayman Pro-Am Driver's class. He also won his class in the Porsche Endurance Challenge, driving solo. This transition was described as making the ultimate gamer-to-racer transition.

In 2025, RAFA Racing joined IMSA and signed Porter to race a Toyota GR Supra EVO2 in the IMSA VP Racing SportsCar Challenge's GSX Bronze Cup. Porter scored his first IMSA win at Circuit of the Americas.

Porter's journey from competitive gaming to real-world racing exemplifies his versatile talent and determination. His experience in sim racing is noted as being applicable to real-world racing circuits. He has trained rigorously for real-world racing, including losing a significant amount of weight.

Porter has been recognized for his contributions to esports, including being inducted into the ESTA Hall of Fame.
