Cyberpunk 2077: Turf Wars is an innovative arcade shooter developed by LAI Games in collaboration with CD PROJEKT RED, the creators of the original Cyberpunk 2077 video game. Officially announced on March 12, 2025, the game was unveiled at the Amusement Expo in Las Vegas, marking a significant expansion of the Cyberpunk universe into the arcade gaming sphere.

What is Cyberpunk 2077: Turf Wars?

Turf Wars is an arcade-style light gun game that immerses players in the dystopian world of Night City. The game features projection mapping technology, seamlessly integrating vivid video visuals with physical targets. Players engage in explosive, high-energy combat using tactile weapons equipped with advanced haptic feedback, enhancing the sensory experience. The cabinet itself is a formidable presence, standing nearly nine feet tall and weighing approximately 1,500 pounds, making it a standout attraction in any arcade setting.

Game Modes and Features

Turf Wars offers three distinct game modes:

  • Story Mode: Players embark on missions that involve taking down crime lords, infiltrating corporate strongholds, and surviving relentless street battles. Progress can be saved using physical cards, allowing players to continue their journey over multiple sessions.

  • Co-Op/Versus Mode: This mode enables players to team up or compete against each other in high-stakes shootouts, fostering both cooperative and competitive gameplay experiences.

  • Sniper Mode: Players can test their precision and sharpshooting skills in specialized sniper challenges, adding variety to the gameplay.

Why an Arcade Game?

The decision to develop an arcade game stems from a desire to provide a unique, immersive experience that differs from traditional console or PC gaming. Arcade games offer tactile feedback and physical interaction that are difficult to replicate in home gaming environments. By bringing Cyberpunk 2077 into arcades, the developers aim to reach a broader audience and revive the communal aspect of gaming, where players can engage directly with the game and each other in a shared physical space.

How to Play

Players wield physical light guns to engage with both digital visuals and physical targets within the game cabinet. The integration of projection mapping technology and haptic feedback ensures that each shot feels impactful, providing a deeply immersive experience. The game's design encourages repeat playthroughs, with features like progress-saving physical cards and multiple game modes catering to various playstyles.
